        John R. Davis is an established artist who works in watercolor, oils, acrylic and egg tempera.  His paintings range from Landscapes, cityscapes and water scenes.  In recent months he has be actively pursuing Plein Air paintings in oil.  

John is originally from Rocky River in Greater Cleveland and has his BA from Muskingum College. In his junior year he studied history, art history and art in Austria.  This was a formative time and transitioned his life to become an artist.  Upon graduation in 1973 John setup a studio and became a self employed artist which he remains today.  The art education he recieved in college was a start, but he continued to study with painters in the Cleveland area including; Fred Leach, Jim Hubbord, Kinley Shogren and John Sargent III.

For several years John was the the artist in residence of the Trinity Cathedral.

John sees inspiration by the things around him. “Being in the moment, the colors, shapes, and the history of the area : that’s insperation”
